UXPA Seattle and UX/IA Meetup are excited to host Tamara Adlin for a special talk on September 9th about her long journey with Personas, and how her current thinking is aligned with new work on "Adhoc Personas."
Tamara's ideas about Persona development are influential and widely implemented by UX teams around the world. UX Guru, Jakob Nielsen, endorsed her most recent, best-selling 2010 book, "The Essential Personal Lifecycle: Your Guide to Building and Using Personas," co-written with John Pruitt, Principal User Experience at Dell, by commenting that it is "better (and safer for your project) to learn from people like Adlin and Pruitt who actually know what they're talking about."
This event is graciously being sponsored by The Creative Group (TCG) Seattle
ABOUT THE TALK
Tamara will discuss the evolution of Personas until about 1998 when Allan Cooper released his seminal book, "Inmates Are Running the Asylum," and popularized "Goal-Oriented" design methods. Tamara will discuss her own journey, after Cooper, and the challenges of adapting Personas to creative organizations from Apple to Zillow.
Finally, Tamara will introduce "Adhoc Personas," what they are, and why she now advocates this approach after many years of devising, testing, and refining methods. She will also step-through what an Adhoc Persona Workshop looks like using artifacts and pictures from actual client sessions.
